A Brief Overview

Your Warranty

The Common Causes

There are a few common causes for the majority of technical problems with the XBOX 360 these include:

- Overheating | Solution: Try to put your console in an area with more ventilation. Also check that your fan is working.
- Incorrectly inserted components | Solution: Make sure all your cables and your hard drive/ memory card are plugged in correctly.

XBOX 360 Tool Kit

These are the minimum tools you will need to open up your XBOX 360 console:

- Philips & Standard Screwdrivers (Try to Internet Security Consultant different sizes, I'd recommend you get one small and one big of each).
- Torx 8 & 10 Screwdrivers (These can be bought from most hardware stores and online stores such as Amazon or eBay).

Flashing Red Lights & What They Mean

All Four Sections Flashing Red: The A/V cable cannot be detected. You can try to solve this by: making sure the A/V cable is properly connected to the console, disconnecting and reconnecting the A/V cable, use a dry wipe cloth to wipe the end of the A/V cable and if you have another A/V cable try to use it as a substitute.

Sections 1, 3 and 4 are Flashing Red: This is the infamous RRoD, please see the RRoD & E74 fixing guide for more information.

Sections 1 and 3 are Flashing Red: This is an overheated system, this is also caused by removing the Tmbill Streamyx Login sink from the GPU when reflowing air (refer to the RRoD & E74 fixing guide for more information). Let the XBOX 360 FULLY cool, this could take up to 7 hours, do not under any circumstances place your console in the fridge or freezer in attempt to cool it faster. Extremely cold temperatures are just as bad if not worse and rapid cooling could cause condensation which can short your system.

Section 4 Flashing Red: This is commonly associated with the E74 error. There are many different causes for this 1 red light:

E45: -

E64: DVD Drive internet marketing jobs Possibly DVD timeout, DVD lacking F/W chip, wrong xBox 360 firmware.

E65: DVD Drive Error: Possibly DVD timeout, DVD lacking F/W chip, wrong xBox 360 firmware. Can also be caused by tray not being fully closed.

E66: DVD Drive Error: DVD model, or version does not match that of the version expected by the dashboard. OR the firmware version on the drive is older then the firmware version expected by the dashboard. Make sure the DVD drive is of the same version originally included with the console and that it is using either the original firmware included with the console or newer.

E67: Hard Drive Error: It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it.

E68: Hard Drive Problem: Try to unplug and adjust the hard drives connection, it may be the hard drive itself.

E69: Hard Drive Problem: Try to unplug and adjust the hard drives connection, it may be the hard drive itself.

E71: Possible dashboard update.

E72: -

E73: General Hardware Error: Caused by a problem with the Ethernet port.

E74: AV Cable Problem: This is often due to a faulty A/V cable, try a substitute cable if you can. Generally this is caused either due to the scaler chip also known as the ANA/HANA chip or the GPU (similar to RRoD). The guide below explains in depth how to fix this problem, however please note by following the steps in the guide (even though you are not covered by warranty for this problem) voids any remaining warranty you may have. If you do not follow the guide however you will need to pay a considerable sum of money to Microsoft to fix your system.

E79: Hard Drive Problem: Try to unplug and adjust the hard drives connection, it may be the hard drive itself.
