This has been a blow to DVD and Blu-ray sales.

There are some who believe, myself included that 2009 will create even more separation in revenue between video games and DVD/Blu-ray movies. GFK predicts that video games will have an increase around 12 percent for 2009 while DVD/Blue-ray are expected to plunge another 4%.

Video games are becoming the mainstream for entertainment if it already hasn't. Last years numbers reveal what the future might hold for both industries, one looks very bright, the other might be looking at the beginning of the end, time will tell as always.
